Jim DeTro announced his bid for Okanogan County Commissioner Dist.# 3 as a Republican Candidate on Feb 20th at the Lincoln Day dinner. Jim is a lifelong resident of Okanogan County.
On August 25, 2010, the Central Committee for the Okanogan County Republican Party endorsed Jim DeTro as their Candidate of choice for the 2010 General Election.

Jim DeTro has the business experience, work ethic and desire needed to accomplish the tasks and challenges facing Okanogan County. Jim started his 35 year trucking career, purchasing his first log truck in 1975. In 1981 He moved to Spokane to manage the trucking operation of the Spokane Lumber Sawmill located at Janis Bridge in Tonasket. He built his trucking business while managing over 100 employees. |

| He continued working in the trucking and logging industries as the ever oppressive regulations and the spotted owl doomed the Logging and Sawmill Industry. Jim continued trucking and in 2004 started hauling Bio-solids, Jim also has an equipment brokerage and has been buying and selling Equipment since 1980. |

Jim was born May 25th 1948 to Russ and Bunny DeTro raised in Riverside where Jim’s parents and grandparents James H. & Leila DeTro had H. DeTro & son store, later DeTro’s Country Mercantile and finally DeTro’s Western Store.
Jim was raised with a strong work ethic and has never shied away from a challenge. Jim loves horses and rural life, people in Riverside enjoyed the novelty of receiving the Wenatchee Daily World delivered on horseback, at age nine he had the longest paper route in the Area. Jim attended grade school in Riverside and Graduated from Omak High School. He attended 2 years of junior college in Wenatchee and 2 years at Eastern Washington State College in Cheney WA. |
In high school he worked summers on the DNR fire crew. He later became a USDA Smoke jumper at Intercity Airport in Winthrop Wa. Jim survived a plane crash on Loup Loup pass with Forest service pilot Ken Cavin in 1969. This did not deter his love of flying, he got his Pilots license and Instrument rating, and has logged over 3600 hours.
Jim still works on emergency fire crews. Jim is certified by the NE Washington Wildfire training group as a Dozer Operator, Water Tender and for Low-boy Transport.

Jim and his wife Patty make their home at Crumbacher in Tonasket Washington. Jim has a son Doug of Omak, A daughter Diana Soliday of Manson, 4 Grandchildren.
His brother Scott DeTro & family live in Omak, His sister Ginger Morrisson & family live in Deer Park.

Jim DeTro has been a member of the Omak Presbyterian church for 30 years, and is a current Republican Precinct Committee Officer for Pine Cone Precinct #70. Civic memberships include; 35 year member and past treasurer of Omak Elks Lodge #1742, A 25 year Eagles member and past Trustee of Okanogan Eagles #3004, Other Organizations include; Cattlemen's Association, Omak Gun Club, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc., Washington Pilots Assoc., Rocky MT. Elk Foundation, V.P. for West-vue Water Assoc. |
